Seven Hill Birdwatchers

Seven Hills Outdoors

Welcome to Seven Hills Outdoors.

I have created this site as a source of outdoor information for the area in and around Rome, Georgia. Use the links at left to find what you need.

Seven Hills Outdoors is the homepage for the Seven Hills Birdwatchers (SHB).

Check out the sections below on BeeKeeping and Cycling

My ambition is to help people find what they need, outdoors, in northwest Georgia.  Let me know if I can help.

I am a naturalist at heart.  I hold environmental, biology, and education degrees and so I have devoted a major portion of my life to nature and teaching.

HONEY BEE REMOVAL

I began keeping honeybees in July of 2008 when a friend helped me to remove bees from a house that was being torn down.

My beekeeping goals now are not so much honey production but saving feral bees from extermination.  Feral bees are surviving without all the chemicals some keepers are using to combat diseases and pests.

My goal is to keep these strains of bees going.

If you have bees that need removal from a home, tree or other structure email me or give me a call.

I charge nothing for taking a look at what you have.  In most cases I only charge a small fee for the handling of the bees.  If the removal is particularly difficult I may need to charge more.

Seven Hills Birdwatchers

I began SHB after teaching continuing education courses on birdwatching at Berry College in 1998.  SHB is open to all.  There are no fees or dues and no political offices.

We take around 10-15 fieldtrips each year in Floyd County and Northwest Georgia.

Currently, we have over 60 people and families on our email list.  Send me an email if you would like to be added.

I will post upcoming fieldtrips and rare bird sighting below.

Cycling

Trey Smith and I began promoting cycling events in Northwest GA in November 2008.  We hosted the first Rome Cyclocross and then in January we promoted the Barnsley Gardens Cyclocross Festival.  More races will follow in 2009.
